The items will be banned in three stages, starting in late 2022 and ending with everything on the list being banned by July 2025.

Environment Minister David Parker said New Zealanders throw away an estimated 159 grams of plastic waste per person every day. Per capita, New Zealand is one of the top 10 countries in the world producing the most landfill waste.
