If you sometimes get annoyed when somebody sits in your favorite chair, don't worry — you're not alone. A new survey has found that two out of every three Americans have a place in their home where they always like to sit and that many will get angry if somebody else sits there instead. The survey by OnePoll asked 2,000 Americans about their favorite places in their homes to sit. It found that 66% of them have a favorite spot, and 55% would feel uncomfortable sitting anywhere else. This might be a spot at the kitchen table, on the sofa, or somewhere else in the home.

A quarter of people said they care so much about their spot that if somebody else sat there, they would ask them to move. When asked why certain spots were their favorites, 63% said they had positive memories that they associated with certain places or pieces of furniture in their homes. However, those feelings didn't stop 56% of Americans from buying new furniture to make their homes more comfortable as they spent more time indoors during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The survey found that, over the past year, the average American spent $752 decorating their home, with 31% saying they spent more than $1,000. Thirty-three percent bought new accessories like shelves or lamps, 27% bought a new bed, and 19% bought a new TV. Seventy-three percent of Americans agreed that their home has a good atmosphere and makes everyone feel comfortable.
